Meeting Notes

Bears,

Great den meeting tonight! Don't forget to do your homework & bring it to next week's den meeting: draw a floor plan of your house/townhouse/apartment and show the emergency exit routes you would take. You can make it as simple or elaborate as you like.

The Christmas Parade is this Saturday. Scouts must be dressed in their full class A uniforms to participate: blue shirt, hat, neckerchief & slide.

Manassas Christmas Parade Facts to know:
The parade occurs Rain or Shine Saturday, December 5th (This Saturday)
Start time: 10AM (time the first act steps off)
Drop off time for participants: between 8:15AM and 9:30AM (no later than 9:30 though we suggest as close to 9:30 as you can)
Our slot in the parade: #66green (On Mathis Avenue just past Nathan's Dairy Bar)

Parking and drop off for participants:
Parking: Enter the Reb Yank Shopping Center parking lot from Liberia Avenue.  Short tern parking is designated to your immediate left.
Drop Off: Upon entering the Reb Yank parking lot proceed along the front of the shopping center toward Reb Yank Drive, drop off in front of the center and circle behind the center to the Liberia exit.  (Scouts may be dropped off for the parade using this area.  We plan to have one of our leaders monitoring the drop off area.  Our staging area for the parade is on the Mathis Ave side of this same parking lot.) http://www.gmchristmasparade.org/pdf/2009_Lineup_Information.pdf

Pick Up:  The parade travels from Mathis Avenue to just past Harris Pavilion in Old Town Manassas.  http://www.gmchristmasparade.org/pdf/ParadeRoute2009.pdf It is recommended that parents who have children participating in the parade park their vehicles near the end of the parade route or near the Manassas courthouse building and watch from the latter portion of the parade route.  This will allow them to pick up their children as soon as possible after our float reaches the end of the parade.  The end of the parade is after the floats turn right on to Peabody street and crosses Lee Avenue. (We will need a cell phone or other contact number for the parents of each scout who is participating in the parade in case we do not meet up with you shortly after we reach the end of the parade so we can get your scouts to you.)

I hope to see you all this Saturday!
Hillary

Den Meeting Still On

Our den meeting is still on for this Wednesday, October 21st at 7:00 pm, even though there is a Bullying presentation going on at Sudley Elementary.

Sudley parents may drop their Bear off at the den meeting if they want to attend, then join us afterward.

Bears, bring your rockets & we'll have a little workshop on how to assemble the parts.

As always, you can work on your requirements at home with your akela. Just let a den leader know so we can mark you as completed!

Hello Den 3 & Den 6 Bears,
Don't forget to bring your glued & sanded space derby rockets to the pack meeting this week, Oct. 14th, so we can paint them! I can't wait to see all the wonderful designs!!

On another note, I hope all you new Den 6 Bears have been working on memorizing your Bobcat. Use the sticks & crossword puzzle we did this past week to help you. We all want to you earn your Bobcat.
YOU CAN DO IT!!

Also remember, let one of your pack leaders know if you've completed any requirements so we can keep track.

See you on Wednesday.

Welcome new & returning rising Bears.

Next week our den meeting will begin at 7pm. At 7:30, we'll join the rest of our pack for the Popcorn Fundraiser Kick-Off.
For the parents, there will be an info session about the fundraiser & parent expectations, after the kick-off.
There will be activities for the Scouts while parents attend the meeting. We'll try to keep it as brief as possible.

See you at 7pm,
Hillary
