Popcorn Sales
Each fall from September through November, boys have the opportunity to help fund their Cub Scout adventures and purchase needed items for Scouting through the annual popcorn sale.
Each boy who sells popcorn has the opportunity to earn a variety of incentives. These incentives include bi-weekly den prizes, pack level incentives, Trails End Incentives and the opportunity to win the prized corn hat. (You might also get to put a pie in the Cubmaster's face if you sell enough)
If you have any questions about popcorn sales, please contact pack1831@gmail.com and your questions will be forwarded to our fundraising chair.
Spring Fundraiser Card Sale
Last year, we sold fundraiser cards in the spring to help pay for our summer scouting activities. This can also be an opportunity to a scout to earn part of their way to summer camp. We plan to try this fundraiser again this coming spring. We will provide more detail as they are available.
Friends of Scouting (FOS)
Scouting continues to grow and thrive within our council for many reasons, not the least of which is funding. The National Capital Area Council (NCAC) serves the District of Columbia and sixteen surrounding counties in Maryland and Virginia. The Friends of Scouting campaign is conducted annually among the parents of Scouts and volunteer leaders. Families are the ones who see firsthand the benefit of Scouting for their child. District and unit volunteers conduct the campaign in order to give all Scout families the opportunity to support the Scouting program.
This year National Capital Area Council has calculated the average cost per Scout for a full year of activities and programs to be $204. Please consider this level of giving. Donations do not have to be made in a single payment. Your donation pledged in February can be billed in equal amounts starting in March and continuing through December of the donation year.
Don't forget that many companies "match" their employee's donation. To see an initial list of companies known to have this policy go to http://www.boyscouts-ncac.org/openrosters/vieworgpagelink.asp?orgkey=1989&linkkey=16727
or check with your human resources department for the appropriate paperwork.
